Cork Experiments @ATÖLYE

As a designer in residence I worked with cork at ATÖLYE, in Istanbul Turkey for 2 months. Project was sponsored by Amorim Cork Ventures. I did not only make functional, usable products but I also presented experiments that challenge cork structurally and aesthetically.

Cork furniture was designed using corks flexibility, it's easily machinable structure and light weightedness. Stools, side tables were stitched using parachute chord, providing a playful look. Neon acrylic created a thin layer of style and modernness to cork's natural texture.

From stitching and supporting with acrylic beams and parachute chords, to 3d printed extra materials, I have tried to use cork in various different ways.

Wall pieces use acrylic or bent plywood as base, and cork later creates a playful, tactile and seamless surface on the wall.
